Students

We offer a Doctor of Medicine degree, a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences, a Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies, a Graduate Certificate in Molecular and Biomedical Sciences, and an International Visiting Medical Student Program.

Our firm commitment to research has been validated by the latest Blue Ridge Rankings (FY 2022) of federal research funding.
The Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research now ranks the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine #107 in the country in funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). That’s up 16 spots in one year, the most significant jump of any U.S. medical school!
From 2021-22, the medical school nearly doubled NIH funding from $5.4M to $9.99M, the second-highest percentage increase in funding (46%) nationwide. Among public medical schools, the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine now ranks 68 in NIH funding.

Students that meet certain conditions after completing the Graduate Certificate in Molecular and Biomedical Sciences are guaranteed admission or an interview for the MD degree program HWCOM.

Maddie Otto

Maddie is a second-year medical student at the University of Notre Dame in Sydney and one of Level Medicine’s workshop project managers. Prior to studying medicine, she worked and studied as a musician in Melbourne. She has a background in community arts, which combined her love for both the arts and disability support. She is an advocate for intersectional gender equity, and is passionate about accessibility and inclusive practice within the healthcare system.
