Sutter Volunteer Program

(Postponed for Fall 2020 – Spring 2021)

Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento, in collaboration with the Sacramento State’s Career Center offers students the opportunity to volunteer at our hospital located in Mid-Town Sacramento at 2825 Capitol Avenue. We are a 523-bed, acute-care, regional medical center. Many volunteer opportunities are available to students who are committed to providing compassionate care and an excellent service experience for our patients and families.

To participate in the 2020 Sacramento State/Sutter Volunteer Program, please apply using the button below.

The online application will go live on Monday, December 2, 2019, at 8 am and will close after the first 75 applications are submitted.

Please have the following information ready in order to complete your online application:

  • Personal Information – your name, current address, email, and phone.
  • Emergency contact information – name, relationship to you, address, phone.
  • Personal Reference (not a family member) – name and email.
  • Preferred Assignment – a list of opportunities is available on our website. A preferred assignment is not guaranteed. High need areas are filled first.
  • Reason for volunteering – Please explain why you would like to volunteer at our medical center.

In order to participate in this CSUS student volunteer cohort, you must be able to:

  • Volunteer a minimum of 100 hours of a weekly 4-hour shift (same day/time each week) with consistent attendance. This will typically take 6 to 9 months. No extended leaves of absence are granted during this time.
  • Attend the volunteer orientation on Saturday, January 25, 2020, from 9 to 11:30 am at Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento.
  • Purchase a volunteer uniform top (approximately $25).
  • Pass a criminal background check and provide proof of required immunizations.
  • Minimum age is 18.
